Tama Starclassic Performer 5 Piece Shell Pack, Blacked Out Black Limited Edition, Flat Black

Hybrid shells bring expressive sound

At the centre of this Starclassic Performer kit are Tama's maple/birch hybrid shells. The series builds on Tama's history of using pure and hybrid wood configurations, bringing maple and birch together for a complex, powerful, and expressive sound. That gives you a distinctive acoustic character designed around professional drum set performance. If you want a kit that gives you plenty of scope for expression while retaining the established Starclassic approach, these hybrid shells provide the foundation. It's a considered combination of tonewoods — one designed to give the Starclassic Performer series its own sonic identity.

Five drums provide a versatile setup

The five-piece shell configuration gives you a useful spread of sizes for building your setup. A 22"x16" bass drum provides the foundation, joined by 10"x7" and 12"x8" toms for two distinct rack tom voices. You also get 14"x12" and 16"x14" floor toms, extending the kit with two larger sizes. Together, these drums give you four tom sizes to work with, so there's plenty of room to arrange your setup around your playing. Two single tom attachments and an MTH800 double tom holder are also specified, giving you the mounting hardware needed for the toms.

Professional hardware supports your playing

Starclassic Performer pairs its hybrid shells with rugged features designed for professional use. The Star-Cast mounting system supports the toms, while die-cast hoops form another key part of the kit's specification. Together, these components bring established Starclassic hardware features to the Performer series, complementing the maple/birch shell construction. EVANS heads are also fitted, rounding out the drum specification with heads from a recognised specialist manufacturer. It's a practical combination if you're looking for Starclassic design features alongside the distinctive sound of Tama's maple/birch construction, without adding unnecessary complexity to the setup.

Limited finish gives your kit distinction

This Blacked Out Black Limited Edition comes in a Flat Black finish, giving the five-piece shell pack its own visual identity within the Starclassic Performer range. The understated finish covers a setup built around Tama's maple/birch hybrid shell concept and professional Starclassic features, so its appearance is matched by a carefully considered specification. For drummers drawn to darker, restrained kit finishes, it offers a distinctive alternative while retaining the core Performer design. You still get the five-drum configuration, Star-Cast mounting system, die-cast hoops, and EVANS heads, all centred around the expressive maple/birch shells.
