Yamaha 14″ x 6.5″ Recording Custom Aluminum Snare Drum

The Yamaha Recording Custom Aluminium Snare Drum combines innovative design, precision engineering and exceptional tonal versatility to deliver a truly professional snare drum.

Developed with valuable input from legendary drummer Steve Gadd, this 14" x 6.5" snare features a 1.2mm aluminium shell designed to produce a beautifully balanced sound with warmth, clarity and excellent articulation.

Aluminium is renowned for its combination of sensitivity and controlled resonance, making it an excellent choice for drummers looking for a snare with plenty of character without excessive overtones. The result is a focused, articulate sound with a crisp attack, warm body and impressive dynamic response.

One of the standout design features is the outward-facing centre bead. Developed following extensive testing with Steve Gadd, this innovative construction helps produce a more open, natural sound with excellent clarity and definition.

The 3mm aluminium die-cast hoops provide excellent tuning stability and a controlled, focused response, while Yamaha's specially designed one-piece lugs incorporate an internal lug-lock mechanism to help prevent unwanted loosening during performance.

The heavy-duty Q-Type snare strainer offers smooth, precise adjustment and dependable operation, while the 45-degree bearing edges ensure excellent head contact and sensitivity.

Supplied with Yamaha's standard 20-strand high-carbon steel snare wires, along with an additional Steve Gadd signature 10-strand snare wire, this drum offers further tonal flexibility. The additional wire configuration is designed to produce a crisp, dry staccato response with excellent definition.
